About the project
The show will be directed by Firenza Guidi in a similar format and style to that of SABOTAGE.
Although the project will not go into creation until 2026, we plan to do some casting labs and a 1-week creative residency in April 2025, and a further 2 weeks of research and development in Autumn 2025.
Spring 2026 will see a 6-week creation period with the show premiering around Easter, then touring the UK and Europe until September.
Initially we are only able to offer a contract for the first season but it is normal for a NoFit State production to tour for around 6 months each year for 3 to 4 years. Although it is not a given, it is our hope that prospective candidates would aspire to stay with us for the duration of the show.
About the show
Our new production will take inspiration from post-war stories of dystopian societies and how they have resonance with the landscape of today's world of inequality and disquiet.
We don’t want to simply adapt these stories but to dig into them as literary references to give us the images, impulses and themes for the production. Our creative enquiry will look at how we can abstract these stories and draw on them to create our own narrative to share through our own language of circus, movement, and physical theatre.
We will challenge the assertion that there is no hope and postulate that hope is achieved through collective action and how this leads to positive cultural change. In our abstracted way, we want to celebrate the impact of popular uprisings such as Extinction Rebellion, Black Lives Matter and the recent anti-fascist counter protests.
This story will be our starting point but become a subtext of what will always be an exhilarating and exciting, funny and joyful circus show.
We don’t want to preach, teach or tell our audiences what to think but simply to hold a mirror up to our post-truth, social media saturated world and invite them to question the new normal while showing that through standing together we can have impact and affect change.

It will be joyful and uplifting but with a subversive undertone and a social conscience.
