The Circus Village 2023 will culminate in a short circus festival in mid-April on The Circus Village site in Swansea.
We are looking to offer a small number of mini residencies to artists/companies to develop work, with the intention of being showcased at the festival alongside a wider programme.
We are looking for work or ideas in development that is made for, or could be adapted to, the Big Top. The residencies are intended to help companies get existing ideas or work/work-in-progress to showcase-ready standard.
We are keen to support interesting, socially relevant work that is accessible to a wider audience. We are interested in the development of ambitious, high skill work of quality. Priority will be given to those who can clearly demonstrate the value of this opportunity at this stage in their development.
We hope to offer 3 residencies of either 5 or 10 days.
Resident artists will get a modest budget (up to £3000 or £6000) to support the project. Catering will be provided and there will be space on the Village site for personal rigs, caravans or tents. Workshop facilities will be available and support from other circus professionals, producers and creatives will also be on hand.
Functional but basic technical resources will be available but companies are welcome to bring their own equipment and crew to the residency if required.
Interested?
To register your interest for one of these residencies, please complete the Google form below providing further information about your project, your company, and why you’d like to hold a residency at The Circus Village. We will then be in touch with applicants to continue the conversation.
